Mexico Wedding Photography, The Royal Playa Del Carmen, Riviera Maya – Allison & Kevin – January 8th, 2010

Allison & Kevin were married at The Royal in Playa Del Carmen Mexico in January. We had so much fun covering their wedding. Their family and friends were all wonderful and made us feel right at home. We could get used to feeling right at home in Mexico… Thank you Allison & Kevin for letting us be a part of your wedding celebration!

One of the benefits of hiring Artistique Photographie for your destination wedding is not being limited by hourly packages. When we travel for your wedding, we’re there for you. Our coverage starts with rehearsal dinner or day before coverage. In Allison & Kevin’s case, they decided to treat their guests to a sunset catamaran cruise the day before the wedding. Not only did we have a great time getting to know everyone but we were there to capture the special moments that may have been missed or forgotten otherwise.

On the wedding day, we offer unlimited time! We don’t see any reason to limit your wedding coverage to an hourly package. Destination weddings are supposed to be relaxing & fun and we want our photography to reflect just that as well as tell the complete story of your wedding day.

Still not enough? We always offer day after coverage. Many times, the wedding day goes by so fast. You’re busy with preparations, enjoying friends & family, focusing on the meaning of your wedding, the ceremony and reception. While having two professional photographers and unlimited time on your wedding day ensures you will get fantastic images, why not take advantage of being in a beautiful destination, have a little adventure and some more memories. We traveled to Tulum, Mexico with Allison & Kevin and had a great time at the Mayan Ruins.

Roxy & John’s Wedding, Barcelo Maya Palace, Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Mexico

We had the most amazing time at Roxy and John’s wedding at the Barcelo Maya Palace just south of Playa del Carmen and Cancun, Mexico! They are the sweetest couple and had an amazing group of family and friends join them in Mexico for their wedding. Besides the crazy temperature and humidity, everything was just perfect. The wedding took place in the late afternoon in a fabulous rotunda overlooking the ocean. It was the perfect romantic setting for an intimate destination wedding. The wedding was followed by a beautiful beach reception under the palm trees where we enjoyed one of the best wedding dinners I have ever had. Roxy looked amazing in a gorgeous Melissa Sweet gown. The all inclusive resort took care of all the details from the flowers to the cake and musicians. Here are some of our favorite (out of 1100+!) photos from the day….

Ben & Cassy’s Honeymoon Shoot in Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Mexico

At the beginning of October we shot Ben and Cassy’s wedding in McMinnville, OR. The next weekend we headed to Playa del Carmen, Mexico to shoot Roxy & Dan’s wedding. It worked out perfectly as Ben & Cassy were honeymooning in Cancun, about 45 minutes north of Playa! We arranged to do a “honeymoon shoot” while we were there. Other than the fact that is was insanely hot and humid, we had a great time. There are so many cool walls and buildings to shoot against! We walked down Fifth Avenue then headed to the beach. Here are some of our favorites from the shoot…

Janee & Will’s wedding at Portland Rose Gardens and Helvatia Vinyards

If you have thought of getting married at the Portland Rose Gardens you had better get there early! Janee did just that to secure her date. Registration for use of the garden opens up on January 1st every year and Janee was there in the early AM shivering with a line of other brides to get their dates nailed down.

We met up with Janee at Dosha NW for hair & makeup. Dosha NW also provided a brides room for Janee and her girls to get dressed.

Janee and Will had their first look in the Shakespeare Garden followed by some fun formals and the ceremony. The afternoon garden reception was at Helvatia Vineyards. The awesome DJ for the event was Denmark, owner of Bridgecity Music. We would highly recommend him for any event. We had a great time capturing Janee & Will’s wedding memories and wish them the very best!

Maria & Kurt’s Wedding at First Baptist Church and the Acadian Ballroom, Portland OR

Maria & Kurt got married at First Baptist Church in Portland on June 27th with the reception following at the Acadian Ballroom. They are such a fun couple and we had an awesome day with them! We met them at the Governor Hotel where they got ready, then the couple with the whole bridal party hopped on the party bus and went to the Treasure Building downtown. We stopped by the park blocks for some more shots on the way to the church. Maria and Kurt included Kurt’s two little girls in their service by performing a sand ceremony uniting the new family. After the ceremony, the party really started at the Acadian! Instead of the traditional first dance, the couple did an MMA fight night number, complete with boxing gloves and a hilarious montage of songs with some funky moves for each. The night finished up with a sparkler exit to Maria’s new orange Dodge Challenger!

The couple had some awesome vendors including Lillypilly, our own wonderful wedding florist! I say it every time, but Wendy and Lindsi are amazing. Scott and Amanda with Ambient Sky (yup, our own wonderful wedding videographers!) shot the video and did a same day edit, which they showed at the reception. A same day edit is a short film of the wedding day from the preparations through the ceremony which is actually shown at the reception! It is truly amazing and a huge surprise for all the guests. Dacia & Ryan’s Wedding, Lewis River Golf Course, Long View Washington

We shot Dacia and Ryan’s wedding on June 26th at Lewis River Golf Course. We were super excited to start with for their wedding because we shot Dacia’s sister Lindsey and her husband Tony’s wedding three years ago! Dacia and Ryan are the cutest couple ever, they are so into each other it made getting fabulous photos of them a breeze. Lewis River is a gorgeous venue and the weather couldn’t have been better. Here are some of our favorites from the day! By the way, this is the first time EVER we have done a wedding where the GROOM made the wedding cake! It was SO delicious.

Dosha, Aveda, Papier Couture Fashion Shoot photos for the Oregon Bride Best of party, Portland Oregon

Finally! We get to post our photos of the fashion shoot we did last week for Dosha, Aveda and Papier Couture. We shot the dresses at the new event space Venue Pearl on the third floor of the Aveda Institute building at 13th and Flanders. The Oregon Bride “Best of” party was held last night (more photos from the party later) and the paper dresses were the finale to the runway show. Eric Newland from Hybrid Moon Videography shot video for both the shoot and the event. Here are some of our favorite shots from the shoot and some “behind the scenes” shots too.

Marissa & Zach’s Wedding at St. Mary Magdalene Church and Riverside Golf & Country Club, Portland Oregon

On June 6th we shot Marissa & Zach’s wedding at St. Mary Magdalene Church with their reception at Riverside Golf & Country Club. We started the day at the Jansen Beach Residence and Fairfield Inns for the getting ready shots. Marissa looked amazing in her Justin Alexander gown and retro veil. We went to St. John’s Park to get some romantic shots of the two of them then headed to the church. Jordan from Blum Floral Design created the fabulous bouquets, church and reception flowers. It was the first time we had been to Riverside Country Club and it was gorgeous! The food was SO good and the service was stellar. Beaverton Bakery created her cake with green beads, the first time I have seen beads used like that on a wedding cake. There was plenty of dancing to a live band, headed by Marissa’s uncle, and even 96yr old grandma got down and danced the night away!

Aveda & Dosha Beehive Fashion Shoot for Willamette Weekly

We had a fabulous time today shooting Jennifer and Khirsten, two GORGEOUS models from the Aveda Institute and Dosha Salon. We set up the shoot for Kimberly, the director for Aveda, who needed some fashion shots to submit to Willamette Weekly for their best beehive contest. How can they lose with looks like these?! Judy was the amazing stylist who created both do’s. The girl’s makeup was done by Stephanie, who is truly an artist!
